Layla is standing on her own!!

Here are few pictures of Layla standing all by herself... She is getting more confident by the day and I imagine that she will be walking in the next month-6 weeks. I can't believe how fast she is growing! Enjoy the pictures :)

Layla is 1 year old!

It's hard to believe that Layla is already a year old! We have been busy with birthday parties, time with family, and vacation, so the birthday update is finally here!

Layla's birthday was July 24th and we enjoyed the day with Grandma and Papa at the pool and then went out to dinner with Bobby's family in the evening. It was such an enjoyable day and we had a blast being all together with both families. Layla is so loved by both mine and Bobby's family that it was such a pleasure for everyone to be with her on her first birthday.

We also had a little birthday party for her at Bobby's parents house and I can't tell you how enjoyable that was. We have never experienced a birthday from the side of being parents and I have to say, it was equally as fun as our own birthday's. To see so many people delight in Layla and be a part of her birthday celebration was overwhelming. It made my heart smile to see Layla so happy that day.

And who could resist that cake?! Layla takes after my own heart, with the love of frosting. She successfully ate an entire corner piece of cake, with both hands the whole time. I probably took about a million pictures of cake-eating alone. She was so much fun to watch!

Bobby's parents got her a little "mini quad" that's battery operated and she is loving learning how to use it. We've been having so much fun watching her figure it out.

Overall, I would say that her first birthday was a success. But, more than that, it was such a fun time of celebration. We love Layla so much and it brought Bobby and I so much joy to watch others love her too.

Now the countdown is on until her second birthday!

Yay for Employment!

After many interviews and lots of searching, I'm am happy to announce that I finally have a job! I honestly don't think there could be a more perfect position for what our family needs right now. I am more than grateful for the way that God has provided for our family, and this is yet another example of him taking of us.

I will be working at North Phoenix Baptist Church in their preschool department. I will be teaching in the Activity Care Program and working as the Resource Assistant. The job is teaching and helping with resources Monday-Friday, and then Wednesday evenings helping with kids whose parents are part of the Mission Department. The job is anywhere between 16-23 hours weekly; just the perfect amount time to be working so I can spend a lot of time with Layla. The best part of the job is that I am allowed to bring Layla if I want. I couldn't believe my ears when the Director offered that! Though Layla will get to spend the mornings with Bobby's mom, which I'm really happy about, I feel so excited that the option is there to have her with me if I needed to for some reason... Another plus to this job is that it is close to Bobby's parents' house, which means it will be easy to drop Layla off, without going out of the way or taking a lot of time to do it.

The details of this job are exactly what I had been praying for, and was beginning to think were impossible to find. But, just when I was feeling so discouraged and ready to quit for a little bit, this job came along, and it feels like it was hand picked for me. God is faithful and genuinely cares about the details of our life. He is always so good at taking care of us, but I can't tell how much I actually feel that right now.

Layla Dancing! :)

Layla is quite the dancer and I finally got a video of it! She happens to be rocking out to the best artist ever, John Mayer, haha. She is definitely a child after my own heart! :) ENJOY!
